Delegation from Kazakhstan visits Laredo, Texas

A delegation from Kazakhstan accompanied by Cecilia Cross, Executive Director of the San Antonio Council for International Visitors (SACIV) visited Laredo, Texas as part as a project entitled “Improving Trade Across Kazakhstan’s Border” on July 20th.

The delegation selected by the US Department of State to tour America as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), visited several cities in the US to learn about relevant topics, such as the effect of foreign trade zones on border cities, cargo forwarding & trade logistics from their counterparts and relevant organizations & programs in the States.
During their visit to the Greater Laredo Development Foundation, they met with LDF Executive Director, President of ALFA, president of LLUSCBA and MileOne International Business Assistance Center staff to learn about the LDF’s work to promote and foster the economic and industrial development of the Laredo region and an overview of the FTZ 94.
Additionally, they are also learned about the new International Business Assistance Center and how it will act as a support center in assisting and guiding companies through the process of establishing or expanding their business in a foreign country, as well as efforts to increase international trade in the region and support small businesses interested in international trade.
